Krasnaya Village, Kirov region, 4 am. Everybody is still asleep. However, the old believers are already up for the reunion: ahead there is a long way of 160 km (100 miles) that needs to be walked during the next 4 days. They take with themselves simple things: warm clothes, convenient footwear, meals, a laying for sleeping in the woods, and, the most important thing – a prayer book. Two-finger sign of the cross before departure – that is how people christened in Russia in old times. They are the old believers. They are also orthodox, but different. During the past centuries Russian Orthodox old believers developed this tradition: every summer they make their pilgrimage.
